Taiwan 28Dec13 to 02Jan14 – Day 2-Wulai-YongKang-Shida

Direction to WuLai 乌来 - MRT to XinDian and took bus 849 outside the MRT station.

Wulai is a mountain area with waterfall and hot spring. We reached there at 10am and it was still early and the street was rather empty.

Kare Kevil bought an ice cream the moment she saw it at the start of the street.

We tried the chilled hot spring egg. It is very chilled egg, worth a try.

We took the cart tram (TWD50 per person) up to see the waterfall. The cold weather had made Wulai looked so misty. We seemed to enter into another spiritual dimension. Heavenly.  The negative ion from the waterfall was very refreshing.

We took the cable car up to another area. We did not explore that area as it supposed to be a hiking up mountain which we are not there for. We just wanted to reach the top and enjoy the view.

Kare Kevil bought another ice cream from the Kiosk at the cable car station.

There was a ghost ride which we did not take.

We went back down to the food street to have our lunch. The tribal food by Tai Ya Po Po 泰雅婆婆 was recommended by many bloggers.  We had spring onion vegetable dish, cold tofu, stirred fried wild boar meat, chicken soup and mushroom bamboo rice. Quite normal to me.

The Mochi at Wulai is highly recommended. It tasted awesome!

BBQ Cheese Mochi – Crispy skin and internal was chewy. I like the crispy skin.

Glutinous Rice with Pig Blood – It is unique, we do not have that in Singapore.

Wulai is famous for hot spring. Local people dare to have hot spring in the public and it is FOC. There were also private rooms available for people to book by hours to enjoy the hot spring. For beginner, it is advisable to soak in the hot spring for 15 to 20 minutes. Not advisable to soak for too long.

We head back to town, going to Yong Kang Street, to eat this 8% ice cream.

After our ice cream, we went to Shida for shopping.

After our shopping we packed Braised Food back to hotel for dinner. Braised Food is popular at Taipei. Pick and chose the food you like, they will cook it and add in the braised sauce. Nice.
